My sister and I took a short hop across the state to Stanford University. We were prepared to brave the many thousands of students shuffling around campus, only to realize that they were on their quarter break. Although we would have liked to observe Stanford's demographic, there was a sense of serenity in the various campus landmarks, from the Memorial Church to the Main Quad. As empty as it was, you can still get a sense of how many people scurry around hoping to make it before their class starts or just lounge by the fountain with their nose in a good book. Beautiful Bay Area weather accompanied us as we finished off our day with Boudin's famous clam chowder in a bread bowl.
